Death-timony and Pearls

Think our message of hellfire
is too harsh?
Last week on this soapbox I posted the ‘Mardi Gras’ report and within that article you will find pictures of our outdoor congregation and there is one photo I wish to focus on. This photo is Tom Ethan Wiley known as ‘The Bourbon Street Devil’ and he would love to mock street preachers.
He said he knew the Bible better than most people, yet argued against our preaching on hellfire.
Well…..old Tom Ethan Wiley died of a brain aneurysm about a week after that picture was taken and I wonder if he thinks of our preaching now.
Of course officiating his burial are ministers from a local Church, as they will give the generic ‘he is now in the loving arms of Jesus’ lie to those at the funeral.
IF one could come back from the dead, they would no doubt warn the living of the waiting torment as found in Luke 16:19-31
(Please note, that text is NOT a parable).
“Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead”
Luke the physician writes in detail as only a doctor can, how this man “being in torments” was burning and asked “have mercy on me” and he would be happy to have someone just give him a drop of water from their fingertip just to “cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.”
He therefore begged to go to his “father's house. For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment” If he had a chance to talk with those living he would not speak about the love, mercy and grace of God but RATHER warn them of “this place of torment”
Was his request granted?
No, they have men of God that will speak and warn, yet the man in torment said “Nay, if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent”
That also was denied. Think we preach too much on hellfire, outer darkness, weeping, gnashing of teeth, everlasting fire, a place where the worm dies not, furnace of fire, wailing, eternal punishment and the fire is not quenched.
Those were all words spoken by Jesus (and more) as He voiced more on eternal torment than love, grace and mercy combined.
God gave Tom Ethan Wiley mercy of 40 years on earth and after quenching the Holy Ghost for decades, went to sleep, had a brain aneurysm and woke up in hellfire.
“Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee”
Now I know those bleeding heart liberals who believe he mighta coulda been saved. I say IF that were true what a testimony that would have been to keep him alive for a few more days and proclaim that to everyone.
Nice thought but he is no doubt in torment.
Many sinners have told me ‘on my deathbed, I can repent and God owes me salvation’ as they use the thief on the cross to verify that statement.
What a LIE for the pit of hell, we find no record that this thief on the cross said he could repent on his deathbed, for all we know THAT was the only window of time to get saved and he took it. There is NO loophole with God that he owes salvation.
Do understand God is just and IF you are a bad tree, with bad fruit, you are firewood. Need a verse to add to that…….
“And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”
1 Peter 4:18
I love working with a group, when I preach there can be an entourage of people and we work together and well. Everyone is not being led of the Spirit, talking over each other and bumping into each other like the keystone cops.
God likes order and that order He deserves as per 1Co. 14:40
“Let all things be done decently and in order”
Everyone has a job and we are one well oiled piece of machinery on the street, banners are lifted and in a straight line, one person preaching, people passing out tracts, other waiting to answer questions and me…..my job is making sure you have a job and you are doing your job
If I only had a dime for someone saying that the Bible reads ‘all things should be done in moderation.’
That is not in the Bible and allow me to expose how foolish that saying is. So someone can murder 3 people but four is beyond moderation.
That is ‘all things.’ So someone can without a conscience molest and rape up to 4 children but if you go past five, that would not be moderation?
That is ‘all things.’ You can lie but don’t go beyond your daily limit and you can commit adultery, keep it to a limit of 3 people because beyond 3 is excess.
That is ‘all things.’ Drinking just a few beers every day is moderation, drinking a six pack a day is overkill.
That moderation rule can be deadly, starting off with just a few beers today can end up being an alcoholic next week. Don’t believe me ask anyone on skid-row sleeping on the street. Most likely that people started off with just a few drinks.
Can you see who this ‘moderation rule’ is beyond foolish and NOT Biblical.
Why not just shoot a little heron in your vein, just don’t overdose, that’s moderation.
Why not take a few puffs of crack, just do not smoke the whole pipe, that’s moderation.
I know I’m promiscuous but I only have 3 sexual diseases because I keep all things in discretion, we know 4 or 5 sexual diseases is not moderation.
Tell that to the police officer who pulled you over for speeding. Tell him you know you were over the speed limit by 15 MPH but that’s moderation, 20 MPH is breaking the law.
After you get cited try using that line on the judge too. Just bring your wallet to court because you will be paying a fine. There is reason that saying is NOT found in the Bible, so please don’t use it.
Oh the things we hear on the streets, almost makes you want to laugh.
How many times do we hear ‘judge not’ when the context of that text in Matthew 7 tells us to judge, that is IF the log has been removed from the eye to see clearly. Or you are not a hypocrite. The script clearly warns against not giving the dogs anything holy nor the swine pearls. How do we know they are swine and dogs unless we judge? The chapter clearly reads to beware of ‘false prophets’ and how do we do that without judging them? The chapter reads that we can know a good tree by good fruit and a bad tree with bad fruit….and does that not take judging?
How about the ‘seven deadly sins’ is that in our Bible? No, that is a catholic tradition and not to be confused with Proverbs 6:16-19, those are things God hates.
What about the famous ‘God helps those who help themselves’ again, nice saying but NOT found in our Bible.
How about the ‘Hate the sin and love the sinner’ what Christian has not said that? NOT found in scripture, however if you are looking for the person who did say that, try Gandhi. Yes, he was the once that coined those words.
Ever heard ‘The eye is the window to the soul’ Again, NOT located in the Bible, yet that Holy book does represent the eye as being a lamp of the body but nothing about the soul.
‘Cleanliness is next to godliness’ Nice principle but nothing in our scripture, now that does not give you liberty not to shower or be clean, it’s just not found in the Bible. There should be order in your life as per 1Corinthians 14:40
‘God is love’ Yes, who will argue that? But there are verses that He is angry (Ps.7:11), He hates (Ps. 5:5), He is a man of war (Ex. 15:3) and even jealous (Joshua 24:19), just to name a few of His character. God is not one dimensional and if all you know is a loving God, you do not have the full gospel as per Acts 2:27 “For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God”
How about the old ‘I can knowingly sin and be a Christian, because I am under grace no the law’ This is very common in Christianity today but there is no verse that backs this up. But if you want a verse that will define the very word ‘grace’ this can be found in Titus 2:11-14. Here we find the definition of ‘grace’ coupled with the word ‘salvation’
“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works“
That sin all you want is not found because we are now under grace is a fat LIE.
Lastly ‘God works in mysterious ways’ Oh, how often I have heard those 5 words. I say God works according to His Word and that is the problem, not many know His Word. So to them He works in mysterious ways.
Need to see a visual of Psalm 40:9
“I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest”
Taking Church to the streets to those ears and eyes that NEED to hear and eyes that NEED to see. Have you prayed for a street preacher today?
Speaking against Islam is illegal in so many ‘free speech’ countries and one day may be forbidden in America. If so at least I worked while it was still light reproving that religion. This guy cried out ‘allahu akbar’ and even had his countries flag tattooed on his neck. Don’t like the way we evangelize, they use bombs, burn building and chop heads but we are called ‘haters’
We bring Jesus to you, as the streets are my Church, the sidewalk is my pew, no worship service, no passing the plate and no need to pay millions for air time, we get that for free….and they say no one listens to us….
