MuSICK Awards

Last Monday I was outside the Grammy Awards

Where anyone who is anyone in the music industry was there. So I was there to remind the music world of David Bowie and how he wishes to have just one more minute on earth.

How many of these music gods have passed our banners over the years and have now died.

Here are just a few that have passed our banners as our Father tried to get their attention before that appointed time:
Natalie Cole
Glenn Frey
B.B. King
Dallas Taylor
Paul Revere
Tommy Ramone
Donna Summer
Dick Clark
Don Cornelius
Bob Weston
Teddy Pendergrass
Michael Jackson
John Mayhew
Gidget Gein
Richard Wright
Ike Turner
Mark St. John
James Brown
Syd Barrett
Billy Preston
Vince Welnick J
une Pointer
Lou Rawls

A number of these deaths were considered natural causes for a musician and that would be suicide. Their life of drugs, alcohol, sex, depression and the wage of that sin is certain death.

Many of these singers grew up singing in Church but after biting the apple of fame, they turned their back on God. Preaching these Hollywood events is considered a ‘Last Days Ministry’ because after passing our banners, their days are numbered.

The next Hollywood event is later this month and that golden calf is the ‘Academy Awards.’

Living in Los Angeles is a great watering hole for what I do and this city can influence the world with TV, film, music and for decades God has His voice outside trying to reach these people.

Keep us in your prayers as we are the annoying light on the dashboard.

You know the one, that buzzes and blinks a light to get your attention and if you fail to respond. You blow on engine or overheat.

The malefactor made that devise provoking because you will be responsible for the breakdown and in the end, you were warned.

Often time we street preachers get accused of ‘just yelling at people’ and the only words we know are ‘homo and whore.’

There is much personal time we spend with people, answering questions and praying

The questions we asked are all over the board, from theology, advice, current affairs and politics.

We are ready to answer those questions with a Biblical twist. Here are a number of questions I received daily via emails on many topics.

Grab some popcorn and enjoy the read:
Welcome to Q&A time with Ruben Israel

QUESTION:
“Brother Ruben I have never preached out loud like you, the Lord uses me to witness one on one in the streets. I work with a small group in my Church who love the Lord and we feel called to do this ministry. We were told not to speak against sin but to pray for people and read them only from the scripture. Our Pastor prays for us before we leave. He has told us we need tell people God accepts them just as they are. Most of the tracts we pass out are from the Church have the prayer of salvation. We have watched your videos and most of us like what you do. If you could instruct us to witness what would you tell us? Brother James *******
Mark 16:15 (kjv)”

MY RESPONSE:
God bless your team James and I do pray the Lord use you and DO NOT limit the Holy Ghost to ‘one on one witnessing.’ He can lead you in many ways but YOU need to be open and willing, don’t quench or restrict the Holy Ghost.

Also remember preaching, witnessing, sharing Jesus is NOT a ministry, gift or calling, IT IS OUR DUTY.

I disagree with your pastor that God accepts everyone, as one word in the Bible debunks that. The word is ‘REPENT’ If God wanted us as is, why would we need to repent? REPENT and Believe is the order of appearance found in the King James Bible you read. Not believe and repent when you get a deeper understanding.

That word REPENT is not new expression. We find that word in the Old Testament, the Gospels and within the Book of acts. Conclusion, God have never wanted mankind as is.

He has been consistent and that word should be used in harmony with the gospel today.

Be it, one on one or one on thousand. You were also told ‘not to speak against sin’? That is understandable, because you are not preaching repentance, or you would need to tell people what to repent from and that would need to expose sin.

It appears your pastor wants to witness for his Church and may be more concerned about bringing people to his Church rather than taking a message to them. We are commissioned to go to them not bring them into a stadium or Church.

After truly saved, they should want to fellowship with likeminded believers. It is good to quote scriptures but again I caution you to not quench the Holy Ghost, remember Jesus spoke many parables not scripture. Paul on Mars Hill recited from one of their idols. Stephen gave a great history lesson before he called people names.
Are we to say those men were not inspired?

QUESTION:
“Ruben why are do so many street preachers preach against sexual sin? It appears, they may have personal issues and that should not be part of the gospel”

ANSWER:
The gospel is the remedy and before you can give the solution, one must display the problem. What doctor just tells you take this medication, without first showing you the problem? Blood tests, X-rays and other tests are shown so you know why you are taking said medication.

Without knowing that information, one will not take that medicine required and never get cured BUT if they knew that medication would improve or resolve the illness, they will obey.

We live in a world where sex is found everywhere. So much so, that fornication, masturbation and sodomy is considered normal. We have ‘pride parades’ ‘gay ministers’ ‘slut walks’ ‘nudity in movies’ ‘sex songs’ ‘topless days’ ‘bike riding nude’ ’same sex marriage’ you can find it in advertising products.

And we get accused of speaking too much on sex?

Jesus called His entire generation ‘wicked, evil and adulterous’ I do wonder what He would say about our generation? Christianity would have had issues with many men of God today if they heard them preach in public and no doubt would have questioned their gospel. As a number of inspired men of God were a bit explicit. Jeremiah said;
"Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear."
 Jer. 13:26

Nahum said;
"Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame."
Nah. 3:5

Ezekiel was very frank as he said;
“For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses. Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians for the paps of thy youth."
Eze. 23:20-21

He was referring to genitals as large as a donkey's and semen was like that of horses, he ended with having their breasts be fondled. In the same chapter Ezekiel calls people whores.

As I said we live in a world of sex and most Churches do not address that issue, most likely because the log in still in their eye and they cannot see clearly to judge another. I will continue to address the sex god of our theater.

I suppose this is what the Lord meant when he said "With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward."
Ps. 18:26

QUESTION:
“Reuben I have a question for you. Is smoking cigarettes a sin? I do not smoke but I have heard a few street preachers say you will go to hell if you smoke cigarettes. Have you heard that before?”

RESPONSE:
Smoking cigarettes will not send you to hell, IF anything it may send you to an early grave. It can be argued that smoking will destroy your body/temple and one will reap what they have sown and that would be hearing the word ‘cancer.’

But there is no verse in the Bible where smoking is considered a sin. We do find a laundry list of sin in 1Co.6:9-10 and Gal 5:19-21 and smoking is not mentioned within that listing.

I once enjoyed a good cigar, but that you do not inhale. There are many things that can damage that body/temple, like foods, drinking soda, even certain jobs can be hazardous to your health.

But these are NOT SALVATION PENDING, perhaps an early grave. I do not recommend smoking cigarettes it can be a bad testimony and can cause other to stumble, so I would not endorse it. Smoking can be addictive and your body will crave and long for that nicotine as a drug. I knew people that lit up another cigarette before the last one was put out.

Not to mention the price of cigarettes can be very expensive these days and one may be guilty of not being a good steward with the Lord’s money.

It can be compared to drugs as I have been told from those who have stopped smoking cigarettes is as addictive as drugs and harder to get delivered than drugs. When smoking is more enjoyable than reading the Bible, I say STOP.

"If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death"
 1 John 5:16-17

If there is a "sin unto death" there are sins not unto death and we should not be holier than God.
My 2 cent and keep the change.

QUESTION:
“mr.israel i had a good friend of mine got saved about two weeks ago and god delivered him from a very wicked life. i will not go into detail but he was a walking testimony of the grace and love of god. we rejoiced as prayers were answered, truly he was born-again. two days ago he died in an automobile accident after coming home from work. why would god allow this to happen when I believe his testimony could have saved many or do I blame the devil? i am confused with many questions. why”

REPLY:
Well, if we take Hebrews 9:27 literally, he had an appointed time and that was his appointed time.

I doubt the devil was involved, I do believe satan gets way too much credit and he is not omnipresent. Let me be very candid with you, perhaps with his checkered background, he was considering to return back to his old life and God removed him before that happened. Could THAT be an option, why God who is in control allows certain people to die this way?

You should rejoice for his salvation not be depressed on how he died. There are many Christians, saved and filled with the Holy Ghost who are killed young in the Lord, beheaded, burned and such for their faith.

Are we to question God, when we are told our life is liken to a vapor or a puff of smoke?

“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away” James 4:14

So before you question God or blame the devil, maybe there is more to this perticular story then what you know, perchance God would be very loving to remove him now before he returns to his vomit.

Timing is everything as per that appointed time in Hebrews 9:27. Despite his death, God is in control.

“Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” 1 Corinthians 1:8

My ONLY regret regarding death, is I only get one chance this side of heaven to serve God.

I always give God the benefit, not doubt, and remember ‘Thy Will Be Done’ meaning God’s WILL not ours. I believe there is more to his death that we may never know, my 2 cent and keep the change.

QUESTION:
“Mr. Israel what did Jesus imply in John 14:12 when he said Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. What greater works can we do, more miracles, raising the dead, casting out demons?”

REPLY:
Jesus did it all for mankind when He died on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day.

But, how can they hear without a preacher or someone to tell the entire world of that outcome?

So we raise more dead than Jesus, they will die again and go where?

So we heal more people than Jesus, they will get old, sick, still die and go where? So we cast of more demons than Jesus, they will still die and go where? So we feed more people than Jesus did, they will still die and go where?

Jesus walked the earth for only 3 years, we get to proclaim what He did for decades. We play a major role, when we take SALVATION to the world.

What is the ‘greater work’ that we do is give the world the gospel. The fact that Jesus died for them at Golgotha, will not stop there but that one act has brought millions of people worldwide SALVATION because what our function.

THAT is a greater work, as we get used to funnel those souls to Jesus and the cross, not just heal them, remove demons and feed them.

THAT is the whole scope of the impact of what Christ did, remember He did not travel far, but we get to take the good news worldwide.
My 2 cent on John 14:12 and keep the change.

QUESTION:
“rubin i have seen you preaching in a number of cities and i question. first off, i have seen the crowds you attract but i believe under the spirit of confusion. there is more chaos within your listeners then salvation. i see more disorder then repentance. i have also seen videos with ray comfort and he seems to have a lot of people standing around him too but there is no disarray. i must conclude your method is wrong and unbiblical because god is not the author of confusion and that is your fruit.
ray”

RESPONSE:
Allow me to clarify this confusion Raymond because the only one confused is you. Unbiblical you say?

Must I remind you, just who confused the people with the Tower of Babel?

Not the devil, he started it in the Garden with Eve, which gives him the title of being the author and don’t think God cannot use it.

See the Tower of Babel for details. Think this is not fruit of the Holy Ghost, I do wonder what Bible you read. For example in the book of Acts we find Paul debating for 3 Sabbaths that Jesus is the Christ and within that story we read
“But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.”
Acts 17:5

Paul’s preaching caused an uproar and as a result, the mob attacked Jason’s house. Sometime tells me you would have said that preaching was not of God.

Need another…. Acts 19 we find Paul preaching and making ‘no small stir about that way’ because he spoke against the ‘great goddess Diana’ and when the people heard this ‘they were full of wrath, and cried out.’ Now this verse may be shocking

“And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.”
Acts 19:29

The entire city was filled with confusion as a result of Paul’s preaching. Sure glad you were not there or you would have told Paul he is doing it all wrong This was said about Paul and Silas

“And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city”
Acts 16:20

You want fruit of Holy Ghost preaching?
“These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also”
Acts 17:6

After Peter was arrested he escaped from jail and we read there was confusion within the jailhouse;
“Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter”
Acts 12:18

In Revelation 11 we read about the two witnesses and after they were killed we read this;
“And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.”

They tormented the whole world with their words and you wish to judge me?

What is amazing, is that you will use unbelievers to determine if my words are inspired.

Glad you were not around when Noah preached or you would have considered that ‘preacher of righteousness’ evil, using his theater to see if he was speaking for God. Noah would have failed.

Now I have seen Ray Comfort myself and God bless him for his labor but a number of those people standing around him are with him. That is why you don’t see the heated raw debates like we do.

Besides I address sin and personal sin when I preach and that will cause ‘no small stir’ and if you wish to judge my preaching by the reaction of the unsaved, I say your judgment is beyond error.

I will take confusion and chaos any day of the week and twice on Sunday, over being quick to have someone repeat a prayer and tell them they are saved and sealed. I warn you.

You are close to blasphemy against the Holy Ghost by saying what you see is a result from a spirit of confusion

QUESTION:
“Ruben, I am puzzled cause I have noticed you wearing shirts that reads ‘fear God’. Why should we fear God? We should love God. Is that “Fear God” not the God of the Old Testament. I cannot love and fear God, just preach the gospel brother”

MY RESPONCE:
One can both love God and fear God at the same time. It is the LOVE for God that will have us walk and obey God AND it is the FEAR of God which should make us not live in sin.

I see harmony, not confusion, I believe they both work in concert for your benefit.

You say ‘fearing God’ is Old Testament? That shirt was made from Revelation 14:6-7 and in case you do not know, that is the last book ifrom the New Testament.

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters”

So we find a few profound words within that text, were heavenly cherubs are flying with “the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth” and these being are preaching with “a loud voice, Fear God.”

Not God loves you. Not giving away free water bottles Not can I pray for you Not inviting people to Church But “Fear God” That word ‘fear’ is not a state of awe or reverence but terror as per Matthew 10:28;

“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”

No need to know Greek or Hebrew, good old King Jimmy gives you the definition by allowing the Bible to interpret the Bible with just using the BIBLE. The verse used reads “fear not them which kill the body” now IF someone put a knife to your neck, would you be in a state of awe or reverence? OR would you be in a state of horror?

IF context means anything, that SAME FEAR should be funneled towards God, as He can “destroy both soul and body in hell.”

And remember this was said to His disciples, those men that gave everything up to follow Jesus and you say invalid? FEAR is not an Old Testament issue.

For example in Acts 5 we read about Ananias and Sapphira who lied and they were both killed the text reads
“And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things”

Did you read that, not just ‘fear’ but GREAT FEAR….and must I remind you this was after the death and resurrection of Jesus.

In Ephesians 5:21 one can read;
“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God”

1 Peter 2:17 reads;
“Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor”

We have countless verses in the Bible where angels appeared to men and the trend that happens is men and women fall to the ground shanking.

In which those angels repeatedly say “fear Not” as in those people were terrified.

God is not bipolar, in being fearful in the Old Testament and loving in the New Testament, He is the same and we can both LOVE and FEAR God.

Show me someone who does not ‘fear God’ and I will show you someone with no wisdom or understanding.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” Proverbs 9:10

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge” Proverbs 1:7

I will leave you with this verse found in Ecclesiastes 12:1 which is still valid today;

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man”

THAT IS THE WHOLE DUTY OF MAN!

QUESTION:
“Brother Ruben do you believe in unconditional love?”

RESPONSE:
I believe unconditional love has much in common with easy grace for salvation.

Jesus said
“If ye love me, keep my commandments” John 14:15

THAT sure sounds like a condition, no?

In the same chapter we read;
“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him”
John 14:23

Again we fine ‘love’ has a restriction of obedience, not unconditional Need another?

“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love”
John 15:10

Note the word ‘IF’ as in condition, and that ‘IF’ would be keeping His commandments, not knowing them, talking about them or singing songs of them.

Keeping them, that sounds like a condition to me. This word ‘unconditional love’ is used so often, as it gives the believer license to sin without guilt or conviction because they have been taught God loves unconditionally.

We street preachers see the fruit of this teaching often and despise it with reason.

It’s the ‘do what you want, live as you wish because God has unconditional love and He will always love you no matter what you do.’

LIE for the pit of hell.

God is very much conditional on many matters. One must believe to be saved, Condition.

One must have faith to be healed. Condition

One must be fruitful or be cut off into fire. Condition

If you wish to be a bishop or deacon, there are conditions to meet

A true ‘widow’ is someone over sixty years old, faithful to her husband, well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord’s people. Sure sounds like conditions to me.

For prayer to be answered, one must live righteous as per Proverbs 15:29;
“The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous”
sounds like a condition to answered prayer to me.

Allow me to say GOD IS CONDITIONAL.

And IF you did not get it the first time I will say again GOD IS CONDITIONAL.

Now regarding ‘grace’ and how that word has been highjacked. I believe Titus 2:11-14 defines this word perfectly and the context is salvation. No need to know Greek, our King James Bible describes words by the framework of the scripture. This is how King Jimmy defines ‘grace’

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works”

Grace does not give the believer license to sin without guilt or conviction, matter of fact grace demands a holy life as per Titus or one does not live in the grace of God. My 2 cent and keep the change.

QUESTION:
“Brother Ruben I am concerned about being unequally yoked. I have been saved for 6 years and involved with a local Church for over 4 years. I met a girl who claims to love Jesus but she seems to dislike Church. She loves to read Harry Potter, Vampire and zombie books and does not any Christian music. She still lives with her parents and says when she leaves she I getting a tattoo and piercing. She is tired of wearing long skirts and is saving money to but makeup and color her hair. I do believe she loves the Lord and trust she will be my Rachel if I am patient. I ask your advice because you speak truth, should I wait for her to grow in the lord or break up with her. I love to watch your videos and hope one day to stand with you if you ever come to Nebraska. In Christ, Brother Jerry”

RESPONSE:
Thank You Jerry for wanting my counsel in your personal matter but first let me clarify that ‘unequally yoked’ verse everyone seems to quote for marriage.

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
2 Corinthians 6:14

Did you know that verse has NOTHING to do with marriage or finding a spouse?

In fact the entire chapter has NOTHING to do with marriage, that is if context means anything to you. The framework of the verse in question and used for fellowshipping with unrighteous people in general.

Do we really need a verse that tells a believer NOT to marry an unbeliever?

Do we really need a verse to tell us not to marry a Muslim or a Hindu, knowing that will bring problems?

Do we need a Bible verse to enlighten us to marry someone likeminded?

Must we have a verse to warn us NOT to marry someone not saved or an atheist, are we that lame?

She does NOT appear to be Proverbs 31 material. It appears her parents are raising her well but once she leaves home, she is going to rebel. That pattern may come back to bite YOU one day too.

You say she is your Rachel but I doubt you will wait 14 years as Jacob did, in fact I do not believe she is worth the wait.

Those books she reads speaks volumes of who she is. Her not wanting to go to Church, maybe I could understand certain Churches but NOT all Churches are bad.

She is just rebellious and once she has bitten that apple, watch out. You say she loves God, if that is true she would obey Him not revolt against Him.

As a young girl she should submit to her father, pastor and one day a godly man but it appears she abhors the ‘S’ word and will submit to no one.

You want my opinion?
I do NOT believe she is marriage material or least not now and if you wish to wait 14 years as Jacob, I do believe she will have too much sin baggage. She is what would consider to be high maintenance, and in time you will be dealing with her depression, sexual issues and bitterness of her making bad choices.

She has much to learn but is not looking at Jesus, but the world as Eve did in the garden, seeing the fruit ‘was pleasant to the eyes.’ Jerry, I believe you can do better, if you wait on the Lord.

Mostly likely you will find you Proverbs 31 woman when you least expect it, not hunting for her.
My 2 cent and keep the change.
