This was my 30th year of preaching Mardi Gras at the ‘Big Easy’ and what a honor of doing that with a group of men that love not their life as we plowed those streets for many hours daily. Back in the day there was only two of us that would preach this event but the Lord has added much to combat
these wicked events.
We had a good group to deliver a unwanted message against sin and meeting a holy God. Ezekiel understood this as he wrote to his generation;
“So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel”
The word ‘Mardi Gras’ is French for ‘Fat Tuesday’ which is the day before ‘Ash Wednesday’ with the concept of sinning all you can and get your fill of sin before you get ashes on your forehead and repent for Lent. No wonder the Catholic Church is so large with a doctrine like that, as we argued in public against sin daily and most defended their indulgence. Most events we preach at are just sinful but this venue in New Orleans has a religious residue to it which only adds fuel to the fire. Many believe the purpose of wearing a mask in public is so active priests and nuns can participate without recognition as no one knows
Just who is behind that mask?
Moderation, is their argument, as they yell at us “let all things be done in moderation preacher” as if that is even a verse in the Bible. Moderation in all things, so I guess the priests can molest five young boys in Church but six is going too far? I guess one can rape 6 girls but the seventh rape is going too far? We can rob and murder seven people but if we rob and murder nine humans that would be too far?
 Moderation in all things?
There is no such verse, like God loves the sinner and not the sin. These are nice saying but not scripture. The phrase, “moderation in all things” is a euphemism usually (but not exclusively) associated (by Mormons at least) with the Word of Wisdom. It usually means that we should not go too far, one way or the other, in abstaining to the point of becoming an ascetic or in indulging to the point of becoming an addict. Of course, that leaves lots of room for interpretation and individual opinion, as well as plenty of opportunity for members to judge one another uncharitably. The phrase “Moderation in all things” is attributed to Terence, a Roman comic dramatist who lived from 185-159 B.C. (or alternately to Plautus, same profession, who lived from 250-184 B.C.) However, suffice it to say, the philosophy of living moderately (avoiding excesses) was common in ancient Greece and Rome. First, a few quotes from leaders about this concept of “moderation in all things”:
Joseph F. Smith: “The saints should not be unwise, but rather understand what the will of the Lord is, and practice moderation in all things.”
Ezra Taft Benson: “A priesthood holder should actively seek for things that are virtuous and lovely and not that which is debasing or sordid. He does things in moderation and is not given to overindulgence.”
James Faust: ”Part of the spirit of the Word of Wisdom is moderation in all things, except those things specifically forbidden by the Lord.”
Dallin Oaks: “Moderation in all things is not a virtue, because it would seem to justify moderation in commitment.”
Another argument we are told on the street is that Mardi Gras is “just clean fun.” Fun, why then all the police and why are their people fighting, barfing, urinating on the street and they call this ‘clean?’ Hate to think what they consider bad and I think the photo below is clean. Did you know they measure the tons of trash on the streets to get an accurate number of people participating Mardi Gras. The streets are clean nightly and the sidewalks are washed with bleach and this is considered CLEAN?
“There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness” Proverbs 30:12
Daily we contended for the faith and daily we had people both get offended at us and others pour their drinks down and tossed their beads on the ground. Even a few that we prayed with and were sorry for their sin and behavior. If we believed in a ‘prayer of salvation’ we would have had many of those too, but God demands repentance and fruit meet for repentance. The Bible teaches that the order is “Repent and Believe” not believe and repent later.
FOR A PREVIEW OF OUR WEEK IN NEW ORLEANS DURING MARDI GRAS 2013, CLICK THE LINK BELOW and note what they are singing as they march by us “it ain’t my fault”…..
There were also many groups out there mainly passing out tracts and were quick to lay their hands on sinners and pray with them. Then they would tell the sinner they were ‘born again’ and leave him in their sin. We also would also see that same sinner, walking on Bourbon Street drunk and living in their sin, telling us he just got saved and no matter what they do they are loved and forgiven. So we were there to set the record straight, get the HELL away from Bourbon Street.
Repentance was our theme as that word was used in the Old Testament, in the beginning of the New Testament, the first message Jesus preached and again found in the book of Acts. We not only preached it last week but expose the sins they need to repent of as per 1Co. 6:9-10; Gal.5:19-21.
The stories we all had were many both day and night with actual life changing conversations which were noted in heaven. We know pray for more laborers to reap that harvest of our labor and we trust the Father will give growth as per John 4:38;
“I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours”
After 3 decades…..

….of preaching against just this one venue, all I say is; “It is just my duty in Christ” and I am willing to continue for more years if the Lord not return.
“And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:”
1 Corinthians 4:12
For many years the ‘Big Easy’ had tried to make laws or enforce some city code to shut down our public preaching and for decades we fought such and endured. The city had repented of the law they made in 2012 on talking about religion and politics at night on Bourbon Street as six months ago nine of our men were arrested, for more information see link to story: Nine preachers arrested at Southern Decadence
All charges were dropped and that law was aborted from the city books. So we did not know what to expect this year and we did have our lawyer contact the city attorney before we arrived. We did have much liberty with our banners and megaphones blasting all around the city.
We preached 12 to 16 hours daily, at a local abortion clinic, Jackson Square, Mardi Gras parades but mainly we were stationed on Bourbon Street as that is the MECCA in New Orleans.
We led everyone on Bourbon Street and the French Quarter to the Lord, with words preached, as they saw banners, they took tracts, so what they now do with information is on them as per Ezekiel 3:17-19; “Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul”
As with any city we preach against we worked with several Churches and had keys to two ministry buildings to come and go as we need and we were also fed like kings, literally. One of the locals cooked for us and prepared a few meals when we returned after midnight. This person was not just a chef but he cooked for two Presidents and the Queen of England and now us. As he cooked others served, others prayed, lawyers were on standby if needed and we were the boots on the ground. We do trust that God would send others to reap that harvest as per 1Corinthians 12:14; “For the body is not one member, but many”
One day I reproved a perverted balcony which caused ‘no small stir’ as it appeared to be a porno movie going on the balcony and these two people on the street did not like my message and tried to hit my megaphone as Brother Doug stepped in the way to stop them. The man then hit Doug’s camera and dropped it on the ground and started to run away leaving the broken camera on the street. Doug grabbed him as he tried to leave as the female with him started to hit Doug and pull him away from Doug, so Brother Mark jumped in and grabbed the guy as we called the police. They guy did not want the police involved and when they arrived everyone was told to leave.
However the story is not over, because the porno people had footage of Mark holding the guy against his will and showed it to the police. The police later arrested Mark and Doug and were going to change them with felonies but after reviewing the footage we had and why the person was detained, those charges were dropped. It is interesting how they only showed the police what appeared to be Mark wrestling with a sinner on the street but we had footage too.
A video camera can be a street preacher’s best friend and if you did not partake of the ‘Bail Fund’ you need to consider such for these days we live in, see the link below for details.
As they say, ‘a picture is worth a 1000 words’ so here
 is an interesting picture:
This guy dressed in red got so angry at our preaching that one day that he stormed off telling me that he will get his own megaphone and use it against us. Well, he did and he did for several nights but as I have always said “A person inspired will AWAYS out last someone moved by zeal.”
This proved to be true as he would stand around and mock us for maybe an hour at a time, 2-3 times a day. On the last night (Fat Tuesday) he walked up to me and said he was sorry for what he did. I questioned his sincerity and he continued, as he told me: “I was wrong for saying what I did against you and was later convicted. I even threw away the megaphone and wanted to find you and personally apologize.” I could see he was really remorseful as we talked and shook hands and he also commended us for our bold witness in New Orleans.
And just think….
…this guy was the life of the party just two hours ago, singing and leading the party into the cha-cha dance and now look at him. Could this be why our Father says drunkards will not inherit the kingdom of God? God requires a ‘sober mind’ as I am sure someone told him Jesus loves him and prayed for him, then he awakens from his stupor only to see our banners and hear our message that he is not saved if he continues in that death-style.
You just never know…..
….what conversation open-air preaching will provoke. One minute you will be answering questions about heresy, next abortion, homosexuality, same sex marriage, fornication, worshiping Mary, guns, politics, free speech, Islam, the pope, drinking, sin, salvation, repentance. You never know what someone will ask you but we are ready to give an answer, not what we think or feel but what God says about that subject. Wish to be an open-air preacher, KNOW YOUR BIBLE.
Just walking by us and……
….you can find yourself in an argument about God or talk about religion with someone you may not know on the street, this is what street preaching does. We caused conversation that you would not have done as this picture displays after light was shined into darkness. We were able to provoke conversation even among two heathen.
After 30 of doing the Mardi Gras in the ‘Big Easy’……
…there are many people from all over the country that wish take yearly pictures with me. It is said that our banners and megaphones are officially part of Bourbon Street. Daily people ask to get an updated picture of standing with me and people say no one listens.

The State Troopers were very busy and removed angry sinners from us all day and night as these men have always seem to be favorable towards us, as they indeed keep order.
Blessed are those peace makers and they do acknowledge their belief in Jesus to us.
One would think by looking at this next picture….

…..that this gal just got saved and had her sins washed away? Well she was from England and never seen anything like us before. I reproved her for sending the Beatles to America as we now look at the condition of her country only because they have turned their back on the God of the Bible. After a few minutes talking she was cheerful and blissful to know that she was going to hellfire for rejecting the Son of God so bluntly. No one has ever told her such, maybe we need to send missionaries to England?
If this next picture does not move you,
check your pulse….
…..what can? We all know the purpose for those plastic beads is to barter for skin. You exchange the beads on your neck and girls will lift their top and expose themselves for that .10 cent bead and this child is being trained in as way he will not depart as per Proverbs 22:6. In ten years from now, if the Lord has not returned, this will be our upcoming congregation and they will be wicked. No wonder God destroyed women and children during time great flood, as this wicked generation will soon begat a reprobate generation.
Answered prayer….
These two guys were angry with our preaching and our signs. They were brothers, who were both in the medial field and were atheists. However their mother was a devote Christian and they argued and pleaded their case that there is no God and I argued back. One later came back and said he was thankful for us being there and maybe one day he will get right and believe in God again. They both thanked me for believing what we do and they both said perhaps their mother was praying for them at that time because they never thought they would be talking about God on Bourbon Street. That was not their intention, but God said different.
One did not have to be outside to hear or see us…..
…as many watched from inside building as we made no small stir on the street as we were used to shine light into darkness.
One day after a meal, we had communion and headed out to the streets to warn people of meeting a holy God as per Amos 4:12; “prepare to meet thy God.” Later that night on Bourbon Street we heard four gun shots which echoed very close to where we were standing. Within seconds people were running and shouting that someone was shot. We were not far from that shooting as most likely all those who were shot and the shooter either heard our preaching or saw our banners and if they had met God that night they can not say God did not warn them.
“Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences”
FoxNews reports 4 wounded in shooting on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras.
This religion will believe that those ashes on their face is better than the Blood of the Lamb, no wonder God hates Mardi Gras and considers their religious assemblies as sink.
“I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies”
Amos 5:21
Here are a few random pictures of men who made time from their lives, supported their trip and contended for the faith in the day, night, wind and rain without compromise as most of the people who oppose us are from allege believers who claim they are saved, yet live in sin. There is also a clip of street preachers in the end of the report who exposed the sin of the day as we introduce themselves to what will happen when they meet a holy God. There were many different believers with many different methods of preaching, so at the end of the day every sinner was warned and that sinner has no accuse.

We, just like the heathen came from all over our nation to New Orleans but for different reasons. No to sin but to preach against sin and those who have premeditated their sin, thinking that on a certain day, with ashes they will be forgiven. Grace and mercy does not mean we have reason to sin and before one can fully understand grace and mercy, one must understand the need for such. We exposed their sin, exposed their false theology and offered the bloody cross as the remedy to said problem, only if remorse and repentance is done.

Thank you for your many prayers as this report is given as a result of your air support, as we were the boots on the ground that rush and attacked the enemy daily.

Below is a link to our Mardi Gras film which gives you a number of open-air preachers who exposed the sin of the day, as we were one of many groups that tried to get the unsaved saved and the believer on that narrow path.  We were as bold as the sin on the street and led everyone to the Lord, however what they do with information is now upon them.
