“Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD”
Jeremiah 9:23-24

We arrived in Indianapolis not to glory in the mighty man of football, not to glory in a team or wear a colored jersey, but we came to boast about Jesus and God’s righteous standard and that we did. That particular game was the most-watched program in the history of United States television, with 111.3 million US viewers, according to Nielsen, meaning that over 33% of the American population watched the initial broadcast.

I arrived from 78 degree weather in Los Angeles to cold Indianapolis winter weather in a few hours, where I yoked up with Brother James Lyman of ‘sons of thunder’ for Super Bowl weekend as he had a number coming in from New York, West Virginia, Chicago, Michigan and Canada. Enjoyed spending time with James and his wife Lori as they travel around the states preaching open air and from the pulpit with their family. Many people have misjudged James by a ten minute youtube clip as unloving and mean spirited, yet he has a love for the Lord, he and his family are a blessing to work with. I will caution not to misjudge what God has ordained and inspired, lest you blaspheme the Holy Ghost in calling what is of God evil or demonic. James loves the Love, has a love for the lost with his house is in order and I enjoyed his family.

The Indy police gave us much liberty with megaphones, banners and location, even on the big day, we were preaching next to the ‘Lucas Oil’ stadium in several locations and we were not alone. There were people preaching, holding signs, crosses, passing out tracts everywhere, unlike 25 years ago when I preached my first Super Bowl and we were the only ones preaching to the crowds, with a few others passing out tracts. However today, God surely is trying to get their attention.

Within our group, everyone preached and that of course provoked great conversations with topics and questions answered, tracts were taken, as the stories were endless and priceless as God used everyone to convey a message. Many people just might think that Super Bowl is just a Sunday event, however it is a full weekend of party, as the host city will always shut down a grid of downtown to worship pigskin.

It amazes me how people that do not know each other can be joyful when they see a shirt, jacket or hat with someone wearing a team logo. But if a believer sees another Christian preaching in public, we are wrong, this is not the place our signs are misleading and our message is not the loving gospel. AND, before they can ‘Amen’ you or what you are doing, they need to know what Church you belong too.

“That, according as it is written, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord” 1 Corinthians 1:31

Lucas Oil Stadium Indianapolis
After the game, many walked by us shouting ‘Eli’ is god, in reference to Eli Manning who was the winning quarterback and just what are these poor souls going to do on Sunday now? Watch ESPN, watch bowling, watch poker? These stadiums are liken to Temples or Churches, it is a place of worship, but I am thankful my God does not forsake me, as their gods do. Players will leave or get traded for another team, teams will uproot for another city but our Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

During game day the crowds around us were large as the police asked if I could pause every once in a while to allow the size to bleed off. Here is a clip from that brief conversation:

After the pause, the preaching started and we had a new crowd in 3.5 seconds, now remember no one listens, so they say.

“My soul shall make its boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad"
Psalm 34:2

At these events, one does not know who we might bump into as Brother Lyman gets a chance to preach to Rosie O’Donnell at the Super Bowl

As we preached many gathered around to take pictures and record our style of preaching as they place those photos and clips on their websites, blogs, facebook, myspace pages or email them. So the Lord can use us to reach those that did not come to super Bowl.

“In God we boast all the day long, and praise your name for ever. Selah”
Psalm 44:8

Preaching in public can provoke people to manifest in many ways, as in this woman who felt the need to dance around us for over an hour. She was in her own little world and later tried to press charged against us as the police told her to walk away and what did she do? She danced.

The NFL Banner behind Ruben reads ‘ you Need to Fear the Lord’ and that question is asked often. Why should we fear God? You are preaching the God of the Old Testament and the Gospel is not about fear, we are told. OH, Really?
“Fear God, and give glory to him”
Revelation 14:7

Now one reason the city was so ‘street preacher’ friendly was because they were sued not once but twice and are familiar with our approach. One night I had several officers around us trying to figure out what to do, when someone walked up and said, “Leave them along, they have every right to do what they are doing.” Another officer apologized to Lyman because someone poured a drink on him and he was not there.
Below is a link to the street preaching case in Indianapolis in which the city lost:

Super Bowl, EMC Lightning, And Other Random Thoughts
“…I cannot express enough happiness that Madonna did not attempt to pull off “Like a Virgin” at age 76. There is a god. Speaking of God – there were a ton of bible thumping street preachers trying to outdo each other. It was just like that scene in Life of Brian. I couldn’t help but say “blessed are the cheese makers” every time I was within earshot. I’m fairly sure if I wasn’t previously damned, I am now. Oh well……”

Super Bowl Salvation
“….Street preachers....oh, how I loathe thee. As I walked through downtown Indianapolis, I saw a spattering of these pharisaical evangelists with their megaphones and brimstone signs. Indy's Super Bowl Village was the prime spot for these opportunistic preachers to do their thing…..”

Tebow, The Man Upstairs are the talk of the big game
“…..The street crowds are enormous. The party was on days ago, but now it is overwhelming. There are all kinds of street preachers. There was a lady using Jesus’ name before an expletive when a traffic cop told her to get back on the sidewalk…..”

Here is a link that did not like our method of preachng because we point out sin and don’t push grace enough. One must expose the sin or problem before grace and that ‘young lady’ (sic) in the blog is anything but a ‘lady’ as she gave me the finger in my face for almost an hour. She mocked God and claimed to be abused by her family, no doubt a member of ‘occupy.’

Under the caption of this photo reads;
"I got a chance to speak with this young lady, Paige. I was able to love on her and our team showed a clear distinction between these hateful preachers and faithful servants of Grace. See More. Read about this outreach here:"

We are hateful preachers? Oh, there is more…..there was another group out there on Super Bowl Sunday that did not care for me and my method of preaching and that was the Phelps klan, as they do like that we bring hope in our message when these people are pre-ordained to hell. I’m confused, which is it, am I unloving or too loving?

We passed the Westbro ‘football fag’ protest signs as I was setting up groups around the stadium and as I passed the Phelps, they sang a song about being lukewarm. They later told one of James Lyman boys to tell ‘Ruben that we sang that song for him.’
Well at least they did not accuse me of being a fag.
I guess I can’t go anywhere these days without being told my preaching is wrong, but the Phelps…now if that’s not the pot calling the kettle black?

What a weekend, preaching the God of the Bible and fellowshipping with the saints. As God is not a football fan or the ‘saints’ would always win the Super Bowl. God is not a baseball fan or the ‘Angeles’ would win the World Series every year and if God were a Catholic, the ‘Padres’ would win ever game. However God is a fan of the human race and wills that none should perish.

Here is a photo slideshow produced by from Brother DC of preach pictures and crowd shots, also some raw footage at the end of the clip

SUNDAY was the 54th annual Grammy Awards and just what is this golden calf? Originally called Gramophone Award and later Grammy for the achievement in the music industry. It is the music equivalent to the Emmy Awards for television, the Tony Award for stage and the Academy Awards for film and this year it will be held at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

The big event where anyone who is anyone in the music world will be there, well not everyone as Whitney Houston 48 was found dead on the eve of the venue in her room on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton hotel. Which most likely had a Bible in the room.

Houston was supposed to appear at the gala and perform as she has been at rehearsals for the show on Thursday. One person at the rehearsal said Houston looked disheveled, was sweating profusely and liquor and cigarettes could be smelled on her breath, as this seemed to be her hallmark. Her regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage

At her peak, Houston was the golden girl of the music industry, with more than 55 million records sold in the United States alone. From the middle 1980s to the late 1990s, she was one of the world's best-selling artists. Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits like "The Bodyguard" "The Preacher's Wife" and "Waiting to Exhale." She confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills, and her once pristine voice became raspy and hoarse, unable to hit the high notes as she had during her prime. "The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy," Houston told ABC's Diane Sawyer in an infamous 2002 interview.

She had her singing roots in the Church as a child, then as a teen sang backup for Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson and others, in addition to modeling as once again Hollywood destroyed another soul. Drunken by her fame, her life was one of fornication, drugs, booze and rehab centers. Fruit of turning your back on a holy God, no doubt not the same person that used that voice for the glory of God.

Over the decades, God has used us to preach to these people during their Hollywood events, like the ‘Grammy’ and ‘American Music’ awards and such. Warning these little gods that they too will die and meet God as per the prophet Amos; “Prepare to meet thy God.” Whitney will no doubt be looked upon as a victim, that only brought joy to others, yet it is God that is the victim. It was the Creator that gave her that voice and in the end it was not used for His glory as the wage of her sin is death. Many will weep and mourn for Houston, but never shed a tear for Jesus who died on the cross. Many will get emotional when they listen to her lyrics, but never get moved by the Holy Ghost. As I stated once again, God is the real victim.

“And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?” 1Peter 4:18

A large number of us formed a Christian gauntlet where the limos were driving up before the Red Carpet and every limousine had to pass by us as many had their window down and were preached too. Brother Doug preached nonstop and Brother Esidro preached about 75 yards away as all in between were signs and banners. I could not recognize this ilk as it looked like a funeral in a night club, as the men dressed in black and the women wore nothing. I would say that everyone at the Grammies understand two things, Whitney Houston is dead and Jesus Christ can save them from hellfire. We led everyone to the Lord, now we see what they will do with that information. Reporting from behind enemy lines in Hollywood.
“Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men”
2Corinthians 5:11

AIR SUPPORT is requested or for you who do not speak “Street Preacher’ that is PRAYER. As I will leave for New Orleans on Thursday and yoke up with about 16 other men from other states to preach against Mardi Gras. This event has a large sin element coupled with a religious component and now with this new city code that will stop preaching with large signs from sundown to sunrise, something tells me there will be a few arrests at the Big-Easy. You can get drunk, smoke dope, expose yourself, almost have sex in public, even urinate in the streets, BUT NO PREACHING WITH LARGE SIGNS. New Orleans has standards. This would be my 30th year preaching this event and to think the city will now have me arrested as a thank you….go figure…..Christianity, it’s not just a Sunday thing.
