DECEMBER NIGHTS

San Diego hosted an event called ‘December Nights’ in Balboa Park which was expected to attract more than 300,000 visitors in two days. As we tailored our message to the theme we kept the birth of Jesus the topic. Now for the record I do not believe that Jesus was born on December 25th and I understand all the pagan roots, however I will get behind putting one day aside to honor the birth of the Son of God. Be it in July or leap year or December, I will promote Jesus born of a virgin, born in a manger (Lk.2). I rejoice that a pagan day has been removed and Christianized for that is like beating your enemy in war and hoisting your flag on their soil. And IF we get to legalist on this subject, than I recommend that you do not call the days of the week Saturday, Sunday, Monday for these also have pagan roots but start using Day 1, Day 2 and such. I suggest that you not use US dollars due to the pagan icons on these bills but instead start using gold and silver to buy and must I bring up that Sunday Church service has pagan roots too with the Sabbath being Saturday not Sunday, ask any Hebrew or look at your calendar for details (Sunday is day 1 with Saturday as day 7). My counsel is that we only utilize what we have and proclaim JESUS the reason for the season.

Rod, Doug, Dale and I drove down to SIN DIEgo and yoked up with Chris (USMC), and Brothers Jeff and Neil. The crowd was petty positive in the day time but like with any crowd, the multitude has the potential to be bipolar. And as clockwork as night came the multitude became boisterous and bold towards the preaching and signs. As preachers we understand this rule, NEVER TRUST A CROWD, Street Preaching 101. The same crowd that praised the entry of Jesus in Jerusalem and shouting Hosanna, also shouted crucify him free Barabas later.

To be filed under GOD’S TIMING:
We were confronted by an event security that told us we could not stand in one place with our signs and we had to keep moving, that was the rule. So after a brief discussion we kindly declined and so the event security decided to get San Diego Police involved. Shorty after this incident we were confronted by two girls, one in particular that saw the banners, heard the preaching and wanted prayer. Doug spent some time with her as they talked and prayer and there was even watery eyes, this gal walk away only to come back again with more questions. She walked up to us and thanked us for being there as Brother Doug was used to reap that harvest. NOW IF WE WOULD HAVE MOVED, THIS CONVERSATION MIGHT NOT HAVE HAPPENED.

To be filed up LAUGHTER:
We were told by San Diego Police and event security that we had complaints for speaking against Santa Claus. So when we left the event I was watching my back, because those angry elf’s can have motive.

The santa-dolatries were rebuked for knowing the names of Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen but not the names of the disciples nor the Ten Commandments. Children were told not to hope in the coming of santa claus with his sleigh in the sky but Jesus on a white horse will return, for santa does not know if you’ve been good or bad BUT GOD DOES.

HUMBUG on seasons greetings,
I SAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!!

In Los Angeles we have preached at lease 4 Christmas Parades on land so far as Brother Paul preaches from boat parades by sea. Every weekend boats are lighted up in the harbors and bays in Southern California with a floating parade as thousands of on lookers watch on shore. See photo below.

Here is a blog from ‘San Diego Evangelism’ with a preach clip:

Bible Jim gives Christians a bad name
“……When I saw Bible Jim and his buddies at Evergreen I initially thought I should just walk on past them and not give them the attention they desired. But being that I was a Christian in a school who's majority population disliked Christianity, I figured I should speak up. I wanted Bible Jim to know that I did not agree with his methods. I was nervous but I made my way through the crowd and shouted above the loud voices of Bible Jim and his friends. I said to them, "I am a Christian and I don't agree with what you're doing!"……..”

Beach Preachers allowed to return
“……Christians Mark Frost and Jayson Gardner may return to Hampton Beach to serve as street preachers, as long as their amplified voices don’t exceed 85 decibels from a distance of 65 feet, according to the state’s U.S. District Court…..”

Opinions conflict on Front Campus (Slideshow Included)
“…..With such strong language being spewed left and right, people responded with anger. A few students exploded into rage at Smock's interpretation of Christianity. Pages of well-read Bibles rustled as they scrambled to find the verses to counter Smock's condemnations of lesbians, hypocrites, partiers, liars and others who did not practice as he did…..”

Other ways to be a good person
“……a walk between the Bell Tower and the library can cost one a verbal accosting or one can be told that for seemingly any reason he or she is going to hell. “Ministries” regularly invade the free speech area and yell at passers-by, throwing unwelcome comments their way. Many students feel these preachers are out of line and out of touch with their self-proclaimed Christian faith. Some are confused as to why these people are yelling that most are condemned to hell when it is supposed to be God’s job to judge…..”

"I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell." - William Booth, Founder of The Salvation Army
